Getting Back In Shape & a $100 Giveaway!!

This is sponsored content from BlogHer and Reebok.
I love the New Year Holiday!  It is such a great way for me to take stock of how the last year went for me.  I fill out my Who Am I Lists, Year In Reviews, as well as my Year In A Glance.
who am iYear In Review or Milestones Plain

I love seeing what fun we had, what tough things we made it through, etc.  Reminds me of how much I have to be thankful for!

It is also when I look at ways to improve for the next year.  I know some people feel that resolutions are a waste of time or silly.  However, I LOVE them!  It is always a great motivator for me.  I always have getting physically and mentally fit at the top of my list.  I am an active person.  If I let myself go too much, then I totally lose energy and I start to feel down.  So, for me, staying physically fit is the way that I stay mentally fit as well.

As a busy Single Mom of 3 kids, and a full time student (and a  blogger!) it really does take goal planning to be able to make time to stay fit.  I have exercise tapes that I love.  The top reason I love them is that I can fit it into my schedule, in my home, for free!

This year I have been really bogged down and have let this goal slip out of my priorities.  So, I’m jumping back on the band wagon to get physically and mentally fit!  I have already scheduled in more hikes and bike riding with my kids!  Those are activities that I love, are great family time, and will get all of us physically fit.  I am a huge multi-tasker so any time I can find an activity to achieve more than one goal, I am all for it! Winking smile  I am also going to think through anything else that could be a time saver for me, but still help me work towards my goal of getting physically fit!  Something interesting that I have looked into are using Easy Tones, (Visit the Official site) which are stylish, comfortable, and tone your body.  They are supposed to be doing extra work for you, while you are doing your day-to-day errands or chores.  Sounds like a win-win for me (it’s all about the multi-tasking!).

What are easy ways that you fit staying physically fit into your busy lives?  I would love any and all tips and tricks here!!

Leave a comment here for an entry into a random drawing for a chance to win a $100 gift card from Reebok (Visit the Official site) and BlogHer.
The start/end dates of the sweepstakes:  1/4-1/16

My number one fitness goal this year is NOT to do things my way. Thursday I'm having big-time surgery, and I've resolved to listen to the directions of my physical therapist. I'll be a slow recovery, and I can't rely on my usual all-or-nothing attitude toward exercise.

Thanks for a great giveaway!

my tip is something another mom told me years ago...dont wait til you have TIME to do a fitness routine in your day...just do mini workouts when you HAVE the time! To be honest, I have had some health issues that limit me now, but just spending 5-10 minutes here and there throughout the day and doing some floor exercises, strength bands, stair work or treadmill when you can GRAB that time,is better than waiting for time that may not come and finding at the end of your day you did not get in ANY workout! ANY kind of moving is good!

My tip is to get out of bed in the morning and into your workout clothes. I work out with DVDs and hand weights in my living room, and this way I have NO EXCUSES not to work out in the mornings. Plus, the morning workout gives me energy for the rest of the day!

I don't let myself go out to the couch or turn on the TV or open the fridge. Out of bed, into workout clothes. :)

Since healthier meals are sometimes more costly, this would SO come in handy for grocery shopping next month - I'm on unpaid maternity leave, so what a blessing it would be! I work full time and have two school age children. The thing I have to do is set aside my guilt and take an hour after supper each night to exercise. I hate it because it is not something they can/want to join me in doing so I miss out on yet another hour of time with them. But in the end I need to know that it is helping me to be in their lives longer by making me healthier. I also try to walk as much as possible during the day...take the stairs, etc.

I already exercise as much as my sorry bod will allow. Having said that, even at 3x/week, it still takes up a lot of time. But I know it's crucial for any hope of staying on top of my fibromyalgia and mental well being. So I will try to not feel like I could be doing other things while I am taking that time to help my body function.

I keep in shape by chasing eight preschoolers around for 11 hours each day.

I am taking at least 20 minutes a day to myself- sometimes thats all I can manage- to do yoga, stretch, reflect, walk- whatever sounds interesting.

Walking more often is something I need to try to do. Having a dog, there's always a good reason to take a stroll outside anyways. -- Email address is in my Blogspot profile.

We park farther away so we have to walk, we get up during comericals and jog in place and we play basketball together. trinitygsd at yahoo dot com

If weren't for my failing memory which has me walking from room to room trying to remember why the hell I came in there in the first place, I'd probably weigh 30 pounds more than I do.

My New Year's Resolution is that every year, from now on, I'm going to either learn something new or try something I've never done before. I always felt weird that I didn't know how to swim so this year I signed up for swimming lessons at our local community college. Not only will I learn a new skill, I'm hoping to get healthier with some much-needed exercise.

I think that because I have somewhere to be twice a week makes it much easier for me to stay committed to learning. I know that I have to be there at a certain time and I plan my day around that class.

I take advantage of having a dog! It makes him soooo happy to spend hours walking that I plan to take him out for a hike or long walk for a couple of hours every weekend!

I make an appointment with myself to work out every day, be it for a brisk lunch hour walk, or a swim before work. That way I actually get out and exercise. honeypie411 at yahoo dot com

I plan to start using my treadmill on a more regular basis and documenting it. I think writing everything down will help keep me more on track.

My kids have decided to earn some fun money this year by walking the neighborhood dogs. They are charging $1.00 per walk, but we've made this a family affair. We get a nice little workout daily with the mutts!

I work long shifts at work, but I'm fortunate enough that they allow us to have a break in the day to go exercise at our gym. It's a great way to stay in shape.

Honestly, the only time I have ever been physically fit as an adult was when I used to go to bed at 8pm and get up at 4am to walk for an hour. There were no other times that I could work it in!

One thing that I do is to use my morning and afternoon breaks at work (both 15 mins each) to walk. It stretches my stiff leg/back muscles from being at the desk all day and gets me 30 mins of brisk exercise in a day without me having to shift my schedule at all!

My goal this year is to try to work exercise into my everyday activities. If I'm shopping, I'll park much further away from the store. If I'm vacuuming I'll dance while I do it. Wish me luck!
